Adur trip to Holland
1st July 2007

Over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend boys from the Under 14 & 13-B Teams visited Nijmegen, Holland where they, together with their parents and Club Officials received a very warm welcome from SV-Orion with whom we have started a new exchange.

SV-Orion have some 40+ teams and are rightly proud of their new Clubhouse and ground which has two astro-turf pitches (one full size, and one for mini-soccer) and two further full size grass pitches. The new ground is to be officially opened some time this month. The picture shows players from both clubs in front of the new Clubhouse & Changing Rooms complex.

On the Saturday our two teams played enjoyable and close games against teams from the host club, both games being won by the host teams by the odd goal.

On the Sunday the host club hosted a mini tournament (6-a-side) which was won by a team drawn from both of our teams which went through the day winning all of the games they played. After the mini-tournament the host parents entertained our party in the new SV-Orion clubhouse.

SV-Orion have accepted our invitation to Shoreham by Sea in 2008 and officials from both clubs are hoping these exchanges will be the first of many

Under 12s win division!
23rd April 2007

Congratulations to Simon Wenham, David Bishop and their Under 12 Team who, after a Championship Play Off game against Seagulls, won the Sussex Sunday Youth F.L. Under 12, Division 3 League Title.

Having ended their season on level points with Seagulls the Under 12s played their Championship Decider on 22/4/07 at Peacehaven winning the game 3 - 2 to secure the Championship.

Adur started brightly and went close to scoring on at least two occasions before a Seagulls breakaway saw them take the lead. Adur showed their true character, their determination being rewarded shortly after when Barnaby Wren levelled the scores, and better, shortly before the break, when Josh Buss put Adur ahead. In the second half Adur again started brightly but before long the big pitch and the heat of the day started to affect the players and it was during a bad spell that Seagulls levelled the scores. With 3 minutes left to play, Daniel Wilson who had only come on 5 minutes earlier, managed to find the net, and for the second time in the game Adur were ahead. This time, however, they managed to keep out Seagulls to win both the game and the League Title

Under 13A win Tesco Challenge Trophy!
16th April 2007

Congratulations to Jon Cook and Steve Fair and the players of our Under 13A Team on becoming the third team in the Club to win silverware this season.

On Sunday 15/4/07 at Culver Road, Lancing, our Under 13s overcame the very strong Horsham Youth to win the Sussex County Football Association Tesco Challenge Trophy, and so gain partial revenge against the team who knocked them out of the County Cup last season.

Adur had the better of the game in the first half and it was in keeping with the way in which the game was being played when they went ahead following a strike from Joe Dootson. Horsham were restricted to breakaways, and although they were dangerous on the break, Adur managed to keep them at bay.

In a second half that was more evenly competed Adur again managed to find that little bit extra and increased their lead when Adam Skinner found the net, and although Horsham reduced the arrears, Adur managed to hold on to the final whistle to win the Cup last won by the Club in Season 1984/85.

As a result of winning the Cup, Jon Cook's team have been invited to take part in the Southern England Regional Final of the Tesco Under 13 Cup on 29th April and we wish them all the best.

Under 12 reach playoff for division title!
16th April 2007

Congratulations to Simon and David and their Under 12 team who won their final league game of the season, and so go through to a play off game for the Sussex Sunday Youth Football League Under 12 Division 3 League Championship against Seagulls Club with whom they currently share top spot, both teams having won the same number of points.

We wish the Under 12s every success in their play off game

Senior Team 2 Cup Winners!
5th April 2007

The Club also sends its congratulations to Senior Team 2 who became the second team from the Club to collect silverware this season. On Wednesday 4/4/07 at Worthing Football Club, on what has become an annual event for the team (their sixth cup final in four seasons), they added the Ernie Walmsley Memorial Cup to the list of those cups previously won, beating their opposition Worthing Albion 3-2.

The score-line was somewhat flattering to Worthing Albion who were outplayed for most of the game, and with Adur coasting towards the final whistle comfortably 3-0 ahead, Albion managed to reduce the arrears in extra time allowed for injuries.

Adur's Dan Buckwell was voted man of the match, his sterling performance at the heart of the defence and two first half goals no doubt influencing the judges! Adur's third goal came from Colin Piper.

Adur Ladies Division 2 Champions!
5th April 2007

All at the Club extend to Lee Harding and our Ladies Team our congratulations for, in their first season since being formed, the ladies have won the Sussex County Women & Girls Football League Division 2 League Title.

With two games still to be played the Ladies are still unbeaten in their League Campaign but are 10 points clear of the second place team.

On Sunday 1st April 2007, after their 7-2 home victory over Littlehampton Ladies, Lee and the ladies were presented with their League trophy (and individual trophies) by Alan Knight, Chairman of the League.

Once again, very well done, and all the best for 2007/08 in Division One.

Adur Athletic congratulates Senior Team 2 on reaching the final of the Walmsley Cup to be played at Worthing F.C., Woodside Road, Worthing on Tuesday 3/4/07 at 7:30pm.

In their semi-final away to L & S Athletic Reserves Adur twice came from behind to level the scores, Josh Wells scoring a vital hat-trick. At the end of normal time with both teams even the tie went into extra-time during which the score remained the same and, so to penalties. Russ Gray, Adur's 'keeper proved to be the hero of the day saving two of the L & S penalties to make sure that Adur won 4-3 on penalties.

A great first half performance virtually made certain of the victory, with goals from Lee Mottershead and Ryan Bromley, and two from AlexFair, the team turned round 4-0 up.

A further three goals in the second half, two from Andy McGill and one from Adam Skinner, with a consolation goal for the home team, and Adur ended the game 7-1 victors.

The Club offers the team its congratulations on this victory, and send its best wishes for the final when they will face Horsham Youth
